This year's edition of Premio Lo Nuestro was charged with all kinds of emotions. From the moving tribute to the legendary Diva of Banda MusicJenni Rivera to the exciting performances on the stage, these popular Latin music awards celebrated their 25th anniversary with an unforgettable night of music and special honors.
As far as the winners go, Bachata singer Prince Royce swept the event with six nods thanks to his album Phase II and the single "El Verdadero Amor Perdona," which the artist from the Bronx recorded alongside theMexican Rock band Mana. With the trophies he took home, Prince Royce won another round of the never ending Bachata face-off against Romeo Santos.
Following Prince Royce, the popular Latina singer Jenni Rivera, whose sudden death shocked the Latin music world last year, was honored with five awards in the General, Pop and Regional categories. Besides the trophies, a group of artists led by Jenni's brother Lupillo Rivera, paid an emotional tribute to the Mexican-American diva.
Apart from Prince Royce and Jenni Rivera, the list of winners include big stars such as Mana, Wisin y Yandel, 3BallMTY, Daddy Yankee, Jesse & Joy,Vicente Fernandez, Gerardo Ortiz and La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, just to mention a few. During the ceremony, the famous Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz was honored with the Excellence Award and received a standing ovation from the crowd at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. Alejandro Sanz algo got the Artist of the Year - Male Award in the Pop category.
The 25th edition of Premio Lo Nuestro featured top performances by artists like Juan Luis Guerra, Pitbull, Chino y Nacho, David Bisbal and Olga Tañon. Carlos Vives' comeback and the duets featuring Ricky Martin and Draco Rosa, and Prince Royce and Thalia were some of the top acts of the night. All things considered, this year's edition or Premio Lo Nuestro consolidated these awards as one of the most important Latin music shows of the year.
