FINALE NK SALSA: Zaterdag 29 mei 2010 te Oss The Netherlands

Zaterdag 29 Mei 2010 is het tijd voor de grote finale van de NK Salsa dansen Nederland. De finale wordt gehouden in Oss. Op die avond stelt Danscentrum Zwijsen haar prachtige locatie beschikbaar voor zowel de wedstrijden als een geweldige afterparty.

Na inmiddels zes succesvolle voorronden in Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Hilversum, Zwolle, Castricum en Ravenstein zijn nu alle ogen gericht op de grote finale. Met inmiddels ruim 80 koppels en 5 showteams die in een gezellige sfeer gaat strijden voor de NK Salsa titel.
Wij willen jullie vragen om deze finale wedstrijd bekend te maken onder familie, kennissen en vrienden en ze natuurlijk aan te sporen zelf ook mee te doen met deze sportieve en vooral leuke wedstrijden volgend seizoen.
De wedstrijden duren tot 23.00 uur.

Shakira Announces U.S. Tour Dates

Shakira has announced the first three dates of her North America tour, which will hit New York's Madison Square Garden Sept. 21, Houston's Toyota Center Oct. 8 and L.A.'s Staples Center Oct. 23.

Tickets go on sale to the public May 7, with prices ranging from $9.50 to $149.50. The tour is promoted by Live Nation, with which Shakira has a multi-rights deal.

Shakira's Oral Fixation 2006-07 world tour grossed more than $42 million across 46 dates in North America and Latin America, as reported to Billboard Boxscore. In total, the tour grossed more than $100 million worldwide, her manager told Billboard last year.

Shakira's latest album on Epic, "She Wolf," has sold 303,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The Spanish version of her latest single, "Gypsy," is No. 1 on Billboard's Latin pop airplay charts this week. Her first single, "She Wolf," went to No. 11 on the Hot 100. Second single "Give It Up to Me" with Lil Wayne and Timbaland peaked at No. 29 on that chart.

Joëlle van Noppen Ex-zangeres Wow,Salsa danseres komt om bij ramp

De vliegramp in het Libische Tripoli heeft het leven geëist van Joëlle van Noppen. De 30-jarige zangeres maakte in de jaren negentig deel uit van meidengroep Wow. 

De meiden scoorden in 1997 een hit met 'Keer op Keer (Loop Naar de Maan)'.

Van Noppens overlijden wordt gemeld door dansvereniging Mi Salsa, waarbij de 30-jarige danste. Naast zingen was salsadansen Joëlles grote passie. "Het droevige bericht heeft ons bereikt dat ook onze Joëlle aan boord zat van het onlangs neergestorte vliegtuig", is te lezen op de website van de dansvereniging. "Dat betekent dat Joëlle ons allemaal voorgoed heeft verlaten."

Music of Cuba - History of Cuban Music

Of all the countries that have played a part in its evolution, this small island in the Caribbean has had the greatest influence on Latin music as we know it today.

History:

Discovered by Columbus in 1492, Cuba received an influx of over a million African natives in the 300 years preceding Cuba’s abolition of slavery in 1873.



Brought into Cuba by the Spanish settlers in order to work the gold mines, sugar and tobacco plantations, the majority of the slaves were originally from what is today Nigeria, the Congo and Angola.With them they brought the rhythms, music and dance that were an intrinsic part of their religious life.

Steeds minder animo voor Salsafeesten

De foto’s van de latinnetfotografen tonen het overduidelijk aan… er gaan steeds minder salsero’s naar de dansfeesten! Alleen nog van een vaste kern bezoekers zijn de ‘gedigitaliseerde lichamen’ te vinden op de site van latinnet. Deze trend doet zich niet alleen in het noorden voor. Een voorbeeld is ook te vinden in Amsterdam en Rotterdam, waar onlangs Cantinero failliet ging.




De vele salsascholen in Groningen hebben nog niet te klagen over het aantal cursisten. Maar op de salsafeesten neemt het aantal bezoekers af. Een reden daarvoor is moeilijk aan te geven. Vinden beginnend cursisten de drempel te hoog? Zijn ze bang dat ze als ‘muurbloempjes’ aan de kant blijven zitten? Zijn de toegangsprijzen van soms wel € 15 per avond te hoog en blijven de cursisten daarom weg? Of beginnen de feesten te laat en hebben de mensen geen zin meer hebben om dan nog de deur uit te gaan?

The 2010 Billboard Music Awards Winners (Puerto Rico )

The 2010 Billboard Music Awards ceremony took place (29th of April) in Puerto Rico, with a total of 14 performances by some of Latin music's biggest stars and an equally impressive line of awards presenters. The ceremony was broadcast live through Telemundo, which benefited from cross-promotion with the network's allies, NBC. Puerto Rican salsa singer Marc Anthony was awarded with the Spirit of Hope Award, for his humanitarian efforts, while the lifetime achievement award was given to Regional Mexican group Los Tememrarios.


Some of the event's highlights include the energetic reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel, a special collaboration between Paulina Rubio and Wyclef Jean, and the moody soulful pop by Mexican trio Camila. The most moving award recipient arrived early into the show as Espinoza Paz received the award for Songwriter of the year, commenting that the award "shows dreams come true if you fight for them."
